Volkswagen plans to build North America’s first electric battery plant in Ontario

Volkswagen announced plans to build an electric-vehicle battery plant in St. Thomas, Ont. — the first electric battery plant in North America. It’s backed by $13 billion in subsidies over the next decade by the federal government, and Volkswagen said it will invest $7 billion.
