Song of Songs: Erotic Love Poetry or Allegory?

This is our first teaching walking through the Old Testament wisdom book of Song of Songs. For the first 1800 years or so, the church primarily read Song of Songs as an allegory. But is this the best way to read it? What does the bible say about sex?
