Significant Struggle To Fill Clare's Vacant Public Orthodontist Role

Concerns are being raised that the backlog for public orthdontic services in Clare is set to grow significantly. Following the retirement of this county's specialist in July, the HSE has been unable to fill the vacant position despite offering the role to a number of candidates ,while no applications were received in the latest recruitment drive. The waiting list for major treatments in this county such as malocclusions, where teeth are not properly aligned is currently in excess of four years in the MidWest region. Ennis Fine Gael Councillor and Regional Health Forum West member , Mary Howard says incentives are needed to entice staff into the public sector.
