Tori + Sam weigh in on end of life considerations during the COVID-19 pandemic. The virus is to be feared & a serious threat. But we need to stop making excuses for hospital administration. We the medical field are failing our patients at the end of life in COVD units. PPE, visitor policies, science & critical thinking. Discussing visitor policies, pediatric vs. adult standards. Why aren’t we asking why? We argue & encourage healthcare to speak up. We need each other to press hospital administration to do better for our patients, and for us as providers. True change doesn’t happen until we bring it to light. Power in numbers and healthcare is a force to be reckoned with. We are the first to tell you, as medical providers, we get stuck in our ways. Allow enough PPE to allow a visitor or two at the end of life.
