The Health Minister is being called on to intervene to ensure a South East Clare mental health facility, which has been lying idle for more than three years, is re-purposed. Inis Ghile, a16-bed mental health facility in Parteen, which has been fully retrofitted, briefly opened as a covid vaccination clinic during the pandemic, but hasn't been used since. Meelick Deputy Cathal Crowe believes this is "unforgiveable", especially at a time when the country is facing a health and accommodation crisis. The Fianna Fáil Deputy says a number of avenues could be considered to put the facility to good use.
