Fleeing traffic offender stabs LASTMA official in Lagos

<p>A yet-to-be-identified commercial bus driver stabbed Olajide Ojukoya, an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, on Sunday.</p>, <p>LASTMA, in a statement made available to DAILY POST and published on its official X by its Public Relations Officer, Adebayo Taofeek, explained that the driver stabbed the official while trying to evade arrest for a traffic offence.</p>, <p>“Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority today arrested a driver of a painted Volkswagen ‘T4’ commercial bus (LSR 966 YE) for stabbing a Lastma officer after being apprehended for serious traffic obstruction around Costain roundabout, Lagos.</p>, <p>“Despite dangerous driving attempts to escape, our enforcement team had successfully apprehended the driver before he was eventually arrested by policemen from the Iponri police station,” Ojukoya stated.</p>, <p>The driver decided to strip himself naked and caused serious commotion after seeing the deep cut he had inflicted with the knife.</p>, <p>He added: “Dangerous weapons—cutlass and knife—were recovered inside his commercial bus by security officers after his arrest. The government had confirmed that the arrested driver would be immediately prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to other recalcitrant drivers.”</p>
