Lagos State chapter of Labour Party (LP) has charged the state governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to give further clarification on how his administration came about 103 corpses they proposed burying which the state claimed were victims of #EndSARS protest.
,
The the state chairman of the party, Pastor Dayo Ekong, made this demand at a press conference which took place at the party secretariat, Ikeja GRA, saying that the clarification became imperative because the government had initially claimed that nobody was killed in the protest across the state except one person.
,
Besides, Ekong said there was need to shed more light on what circumstances led to such huge number of death, vowing that the party would not rest on its oar untill the information was provided as, according to her, the state government was not sincere with the information it was dishing out on the matter.
,
The party chieftain said it was evident that those killed in the protest were more than the number of corpses declared, noting that it was no longer in contention whether the corpses were of those killed in Ketu, Agege or even Lekki and notwithstanding the denial by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr.Olusegun Ogboye, that there were no corpses from Lekki Toll Gate among those to be buried.
,
“The state government can’t just embark on mass burial, it should give the relatives of those concerned to identify their corpses,” she said.
,
Ekong demanded that labour Party would like to know those who invited the military to the protest scene at Lekki, even as she quickly recalled that no life was lost when similar protests were staged at Ojota years ago for two weeks over planned removal of Fuel Subsidy under then President Goodluck Jonathan administration.
