A West-Clare Air BnB host claims a vital enabler for the county's tourist economy will collapse if the net is cast too wide on new regulations. The EU is set to approve an ammended government proposal that would require any rental host making their property available for more than 21 days to apply for change of use planning permission. Although under the new plans, short term lets located in an area where the population is less than 5,000 would be exempt. Miltown Malbay Air BnB host Lorna Cahill has been telling Clare FM's Daragh Dolan that depending on how population size is calculated, many tourists could be left with nowhere to go.
