Budget day: The sky-rocketing cost of living in Canada, and what needs to be done about it

On budget day, we look at how life in Canada has gotten more expensive, from finding a place to live, to getting around, to what we eat. Inflation is putting seniors under extra pressure as the price of daily necessities skyrockets. We talk to Terri Gilpin, a senior in Ottawa, and Karen McDonald, executive director of Sage Seniors Association. Then, we look at how ever-increasing rents, a hot market and being priced out of a place you can call home. In Nova Scotia, Dayle Crouse is converting a school bus to live in; while Kevin Simonar and Tina Gentile had to move their young family across the country to find a place they could afford. Brian Doucet, an associate professor in the School of Planning at the University of Waterloo, discusses how governments could help make housing more affordable.
