<p>Tonight’s guest is baseball historian Bill Nowlin who is uniquely qualified to discuss Ted William’s career because Bill has been a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan and was one of the first fans to mob pitcher Jim Lonborg when he pitched the final out of the game that clinched the 1967 pennant for the Red Sox. Bill was elected Vice President of SABR in 2004 and served five terms in that capacity before becoming director in 2016.</p> <p>Yesterday August 30 was the 103rd anniversary of Ted William’s birth and 2021 marks the 80th anniversary of Ted William’s greatest legacy to baseball—when he became the last man ever to bat over .400% for an entire season.
