#86 Jamie Lee was only 12 years old when she witnessed the carnage and devastation of the Black Hills - Rapid City Flood. On the evening of June 9, 1972, heavy thunderstorms caused devastating flash flooding throughout Rapid City and the eastern foothills of the Black Hills—destroying homes, vehicles, businesses, and bridges, and claiming 238 lives. Jamie watched her house wash away in the moonlight of the night. She also suffered with the knowledge that she had lost her closest friends...her beloved pets. In this riveting podcast, Shawn and Jen sit down with Jamie Lee to talk about how that experience as a child lead her down a path of loving and caring for animals. Along with the other survivors, Jamie was devastated. She endured anxiety attacks and nightmares for many years. Eventually Jamie came to understand that security is not outside of her, but inside her heart, in her connection with All Life. Sharing this understanding with others is part of her mission.
