1616: Court of appeal overturns death sentence of an inmate at Juba Central Prison

<div>The court of appeal has overturned the death sentence of an inmate at Juba Central Prison.  Kenneth Kawonda Joseph, a military intelligence officer serving in Yambio, had spent 13 years in prison on murder charges. The 42-year-old Kawonda was released yesterday after the Justice and Human Rights Observatory Group, a human rights advocacy team providing legal aid services, was able to prove his innocence in the court of appeal.  The group’s Executive Director, Victor Bulla says this is one of several cases where an inmate is wrongfully convicted and unable to afford legal representation.  <br> <br> </div>
