121. Subsidiarity and the State - Quadragesimo Anno - Faith and Labor Ep.2

<p>Faith and Labor is a podcast video series exploring the history of <a href='https://www.usccb.org/beliefs-and-teachings/what-we-believe/catholic-social-teaching/seven-themes-of-catholic-social-teaching'>Catholic Social Teachings</a> and how it can be used to bridge divisions and guide humanity to solve the great challenges facing the working class.</p> <p>Hosted by John Andrechak of <a href='https://www.facebook.com/Laborlines-the-Podcast-106133624670847'>Laborlines</a> and Evan Matthew Papp of <a href='https://www.empathymedialab.com/'>Empathy Media Lab</a>, they discuss history, scripture, encyclicals, current events, and how faith and love is needed to strengthen solidarity and heal a world in disarray. </p> <p>Episode 2 focuses on<a href='http://www.vatican.va/content/pius-xi/en/encyclicals/documents/hf_p-xi_enc_19310515_quadragesimo-anno.html'> Quadragesimo Anno</a>, which means "In the 40th Year" and is an<a href='https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Encyclical'> encyclical</a> issued by Pope<a href='https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pius_XI'> Pius X</a>I in 1931, 40 years after<a href='https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_Leo_XIII'> Leo XIII</a>'s encyclical<a href='https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rerum_novarum'> Rerum novarum</a>, further developing<a href='https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_social_teaching'> Catholic social teaching</a>. Rerurm Novarum was also the focus of Episode 1 of Faith and Labor.</p> <p>We also discuss the Catholic Concept of Subsidiarity.
