STANDARD OMISSION: The African Scientific Roots of Greco-Roman Medicine
Bahiyya Haneesa
تفصیل
Ancient Egyptian (Kemetic) scientific advancements are often underappreciated or unknown to most voices in the contemporary health movement. After observing this omission so frequently, I take it upon myself to call attention to this neglected history. We are committed to bringing awareness to the African roots of modern medical sciences. The foundational premise of this book is that primary attributions of advancement in biology and scientific medicine that have been afforded to the Greeks are misleading. While Greek contributions to the healing arts and sciences have been extensive and laudable, the reality is that the whole foundation of Greco-Roman medicine was established hundreds and thousands of years earlier. As we highlight the recorded history of the world’s earliest physicians, the contribution of Africans to this legacy cannot be ignored.A West African proverb states, "If you follow an elephant through the forest, you will never become entangled, and you will never lose your way." We must restore respect for this depth of knowledge of the healing arts to the body of scientific wisdom that emerged from the inhabitants of the Nile Valley more than 22 centuries before Hippocrates. You shall know the truth, and that truth will set you free.Read more
