Welcome to Sociology 119 (also known as "SOC 119")! And yes, this is a real college course at the Pennsylvania State University. In fact, SOC 119 is the largest race and culture class taught in the United States (probably the world if you include our YouTube community). Dr. Sam Richards has been the instructor of this course since 1991. You’ll likely have opinions (one way or another) regarding what you’re watching (hopefully, anyway), but you might only watch just one or maybe a few videos. There are 2,250 minutes in a single semester (plus 1,350 hours of Office Hours). It’s likely that something you wish had been discussed was addressed, but in another video. If you find yourself disagreeing about something or (more importantly) if Sam really does miss an important point, let us know. He really is trying to be thoughtful and fair-minded.
