Why do we destroy the things we want & love?

Why do we destroy the very things we want in life ? Why do we want love yet take all the wrong actions towards fulfilling that desire ?  What if the things you struggle to acknowledge in others you lack within yourself?  What if every failed relationship is just a reflection of the relationship with yourself?    @coachkate1
