What to Pray for the Church that Has Everything - Sermon - January 10th, 2021

<p>Like the iPhone 12 or a historic Orinda house built in the late 1800s, the passage that we are looking at this morning, Colossians 1:1-10, is packed with captivating features. Though warm and affectionate, these opening lines from Paul’s letter to the Colossian Christians (a group he’d never met but heard great things about) pack a punch in what they presuppose about what a fruitful body of believers needs from God to stay that way. The passage is heart-lifting because God is incapable of denying any true good to his children, especially the good necessary for those children to succeed in the commission <em>he’s</em> given them. If you get a minute before Sunday morning, read the passage (include your kids if they’re around) and then pray that the Holy Spirit would make our exploration encouraging and illuminating for our next steps of light-bearing as a body.
