Warning Of Critcal Danger Facing Animals Amid Clare Forest Fires

People in South East Clare are being urged to be on the lookout for animals in distress, who may be attempting to flee a forest fire in the area. The Clare and Limerick Fire Services were dispatched to the Twelve O'Clock Hills last evening, with fire crews continuing efforts to extinguish the blaze from 7am this morning, aided by a helicpoter depositing large quantities of water over the woodland. Clare County Fire Service has yet to determine whether there was a criminal element involved in the forest fire, which has resulted in the popular 12 o'clock Hills walking trail being closed to the public until further notice. Retired Veterinary Nurse and local woman Bev Truss has been telling Clare FM's Daragh Dolan that the wide range of biodiversity inhabiting the woods are in critical danger.
