VOP 2022: May 11, 2022 Divine Association attracts Divine Mercy The company we keep is very important in establishing God’s good plan and purpose for our lives. If we follow God’s instructions or heed to His voice to the smallest things that we may not consider important we can not miss our way in the journey of life. Interestingly, even our relationships are guided or supervised by God and can determine the outcome of our life or destiny. There are several examples of people who were either positively impacted by their association or (relationship) or negatively impacted based on either their obedience to the voice of God or disobedience. Ruth associated herself with her Mother In-law and clung to her even when she was asked to stay back at Moab her home country. She chose to relocate with Naomi back to Bethlehem-Judah where she was from originally. This wise choice or divine leading changed her destiny for good as she obtained “Divine Mercy” and a “Divine turnaround” for good. She met and married Boaz and gave birth to her Son, Obed, who was also a great comfort for Naomi and Boaz. An example of a negative association was was Amnon, the son of David who was wrongly counselled by his crafty friend Jonadab. The evil counsel Jonadab gave to Amnon cost him his destiny, as he slept with his sister Tamar. Nugget: The fact that someone is close to you does not mean they have the right counsel to offer you. Always check and clarify that the counsel you receive is Godly based on the Word standard which is unlimited and not worldly based on the world standard which is limited. “And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:” Ruth‬ ‭1:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬. “But Amnon had a friend, whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother: and Jonadab was a very subtil man.” ‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭13:3‬ ‭KJV.
