<p>Two men, Emmanuel Chukwuebuka, 23, and Olufemi Bayode, 28, were on Tuesday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged stealing of a generator and building materials valued at N720,000.</p>, <p>The defendants, of unknown addresses, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.</p>, <p>The prosecutor, Insp Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Nov.12 at about 11:00 a.m. in Ado-Ekiti.</p>, <p>He said that the defendants stole white cement, 70kg of filler and a Tiger generator, all valued at N720,000, property of one Emmanuel Durojaiye.</p>, <p>Oriyomi further stated that the defendants conspired together to steal the items while working for Durojaiye at a site.</p>, <p>According to him, the offences contravene sections 302(1)(a) and 421 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.</p>, <p>The prosecutor asked the court for adjournment to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.</p>, <p>The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.</p>, <p>Counsel to the defendants, Mrs Adunni Olanipekun, urged the court to grant them bail, with a promise that they would be available to attend trial.</p>, <p>The Chief Magistrate, Mr Bankole Oluwasanmi, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N80,000 each, with one surety each in like sum.</p>, <p>He, thereafter, adjourned the case till Jan. 17, 2024 for hearing.
