Traders, residents allegedly attack fire service officers in Ibadan

<p>Angry traders and residents of Akingbola area in Bodija, Ibadan, have reportedly attacked officers of the Oyo State Fire Service.</p>, <p>DAILY POST gathered that Akingbola is located in the Ibadan North local government area of Oyo State.</p>, <p>The area witnessed chaos on Tuesday when fire service officers were allegedly mobbed by residents and traders in response to a fire incident that occurred in the area.</p>, <p>The officers had been called to provide assistance.</p>, <p>However, during the firefighting operation, the water supply was exhausted, and the officers were trying to replenish it.</p>, <p>In the process, some of the officers were attacked by the residents and traders, with one officer sustaining a broken leg and others sustaining various degrees of injuries.</p>, <p>Akinyemi Akinyinka, the General Manager of Oyo State Fire Service, confirmed the attack, stating that the officers were attacked when they were attempting to replenish the depleted water supply.</p>, <p>He said, “Yes. Our men were mobbed when we were about to replenish water.”</p>
