<p>A-24-year-old trader, James Ovie, on Friday appeared before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ondo State, over alleged theft of an Oraimo power bank worth N35, 000.</p>, <p>The defendant, whose address was not provided, is facing a one-count charge of stealing.</p>, <p>He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge brought against him by the police.</p>, <p>The prosecutor, ASP Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that the defendant committed the theft on July 18 by 4. 00 p.m. at Ijokodo in Okitipupa.</p>, <p>Orogbemi said the defendant stole the power bank from a shop owned by one Mr Godwin Nwani, an offence that contravened Section 390 (9) of the Criminal, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.</p>, <p>The Chief Magistrate, Mr Cletus Ojuola, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 and a surety in like sum.</p>, <p>Ojuola held that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and provide evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Ondo State Government.</p>, <p>He adjourned the case until Sept. 22, for hearing.
