The Sabbath Was a Day of Testing (More-so Than Resting)

<p>Contrary to common theological presumptions, the Sabbath was not given to Israel primarily as a day for rest and worship. God was testing the Jews to see whether they would obey Him or not. That is why Moses charges them to "Remember" the Sabbath. If they "forgot,", they would bring God's wrath on their own heads, and on their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. We look at the original giving of the Sabbath in today's study.</p>
