The Quiggin Report | #64 Pakistan: State Sponsored Terrorism

The practice of state sponsored terrorism is increasingly dangerous. This was seen again on the 14th of February 2019 when a terrorist group known as Jaish e Mohammed launched a car bomb attack with a suicide bomber in India which killed approximately 40 police men. The dangerous factor here is that Jaish E Mohammed is supported by the Government of Pakistan and in particular their Interservice Intelligence Agency. Both India and Pakistan are nuclear powers. The cost of a political misstep here could be catastrophic - including the deaths of millions or tens of millions, along with the spread of a larger regional conflict.
