The Fear of Starting Again

<p><strong>Monday 12th April 2021</strong></p> <p><strong>The fear of starting again.</strong></p> <p>One of the major problems when it comes to starting again is the fear. Moses knew God had called him to deliver the Israelites from the bondage of Egypt, his first attempt at that got him in so much trouble that he lost his place in Egypt and ran away as a fugitive.</p> <p>Starting life afresh in Midian as a shepherd employed by his father in-law was a major downgrade from his former exalted position as the prince of Egypt. For 40 years he wallowed in regret and self - pity, he had gone from leading the army of the greatest kingdom in the world to leading an army of sheep in a little village. One day as he was leading his father-in-law's sheep in the back mountains, God’ called out to him from a burning bush that wasn’t consumed. God wanted him to go back to Egypt and deliver the Israelites. Moses immediately turned down the offer.</p> <p>Exodus 3 vs 9-11 (NLT), <em><strong>9&nbsp;Look! The cry of the people of Israel has reached me, and I have seen how harshly the Egyptians abuse them. 10&nbsp;Now go, for I am sending you to Pharaoh. You must lead my people Israel out of Egypt.” 11&nbsp;But Moses protested to God, “Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?”</strong></em></p> <p>Moses had lost his faith in this “deliverer dream”, he had lost faith in himself and he had clearly lost faith in God, Whoever He was. How could he start something again at age 80 when he failed at it when he was 40? As the whole scenario of his failed attempt in the past flowed through his mind, fear also followed. The fear of Pharaoh, of Egypt or the Israelites, fear from everywhere flooded his mind and paralysed him completely.</p> <p>How is fear of the past holding you back?
