The End of A Golden Age

<p>The boys are back with the second iteration of the Brilliant Orange book club.  They start off with a brief detour through the architecture of Lars Spuybroek, and its rejection of fixed spaces and relationships.  Soon they arrive in the golden age of Total Football in the Netherlands as Cruyff and Ajax win 3 consecutive European Cups.  That Ajax club eventually splinters, but the best of the Netherlands come together to play in the 1974 World Cup.  An impressive run to the final culminates in a bitter loss to West Germany that births a rivalry that will last decades.  In 1988 the Dutch gain a measure of revenge as they defeat West Germany in the Euro Cup.</p>
