<p>Hi, I’m Sukhraj Singh from Sikh Archive and welcome to the 22nd episode of our Podcast series of conversations with historians, authors, academics, researchers and activists on topics related to their areas of expertise on Sikh or Panjabi history.</p><p>In this episode we are joined by Aamer Anwar, who is an advocate of civil liberties, with a career dedicated to defending the human rights of the vulnerable, where he has instructed in some of Scotland’s highest profile cases, including the one of Surjit Singh Chhokar which we discuss today.</p><p>The racial murder of Surjit Singh Chhokar became one of Scotland's most famous cases for a number of reasons and it was only after a long 17 year family campaign that justice was achieved, thanks to the legal advocacy work of Aamer Anwar.
