Christians often think that a radical commitment to holiness entails the rejection of sex, marriage, and family. They use 1 Corinthians 7 to make the case for radical relational abstinence. Paul’s aim in 1 Corinthians 7 is certainly undivided devotion to the Lord Jesus and a radical commitment to holiness. But in 1 Corinthians 7:1-16, we see the call to holiness is to be answered within our families and not a call to leave them behind.
