Symptoms: In Your Head or Limbic System Disorder?

In this episode, I'm talking about the limbic system and why compartmentalizing the human body has made it challenging for people with chronic ailments who don’t fit into a nice diagnosable, insurance ICD-10 code to be viewed as having a real objective medical issue. <p>I see patient after patient who has real physical ailments that are dismissed by family and physicians as just being crazy, depressed, overly emotional etc.</p> <p>When the reality is they have a physical symptom, sharp pains in their legs and arms that are caused by a combination of chronic hyper immune response and limbic system trauma. This limbic system trauma could be anything from a car accident, to a coach yelling at them in front of their peers, to rape or a life of processed food intake.</p> <p>You see our limbic system is the part of our brain involved with our behavioral and emotional responses to life. It is closely connected to our autonomic nervous system and our endocrine system (thyroid, pituitary, ovaries, adrenals testes).
