The Rugged Beloved was a U.S. Navy patrol bomber attached to VPB-111 during World War II. The plane was shot down by Japanese anti aircraft fire over the Bay of Makassar, Sulawesi Province in what was Netherlands East Indies, now the country of Indonesia on 16 June 1945. The entire crew is MIA. Efforts are now being made to locate the remains of the crew of this aircraft, including ARM3 Alden P.
