We as fans have ALWAYS been able to watch our teams play on network TV over the many decades that television has presented itself as a free idiom. Perhaps, we have become as fans used to the idea that sports will be and always has been free. Now, with Disney, Apple and other broadcasts, the scope and hope of the TV and sports  executives, is to get sports on pay TV. Soon and maybe sooner, professional and perhaps college sports will be on a pay per view command just like boxing and wrestling events have been.
