A former Mayor of Clare claims that only a suitable Council housing offer can end bring an end to an illegal encampment at a Sixmilebridge Housing Estate. An emergency community meeting was held at Sixmilebridge GAA Hall on Saturday, where locals sought an urgent solution to the relocation of a caravan which had previously been removed from Sixmilebridge train station just weeks ago. Although the household are currently positioned on the entrance to the Lios Anama estate, the footpath falls under the remit of Clare County Council and as such is public property. Its understood the family have secured a High Court injunction allowing them to remain in place until the end of the week. Former Mayor of Clare and Independent Councillor PJ Ryan says a process is underway to resolve the dispute.
