It dates back to ancient Rome, where wine was cooked and infused with various herbs to help protect against illness and the coming cooler weather. Because of its history, this is a perfect cocktail to make in the fall to accompany a harvest ritual of ancestor worship. Enjoy while sipping by an outdoor fire, or pour some onto the earth as an offering and reflect on all that life has given you. Garnish with a cinnamon stick for added protection.
