S3 EP4: The LEAST Successful Approach to Organizational Change

Description

More cheese and change management in this new episode of the Get Your New View podcast! Kim Congleton and I, the New View Strategies co-owners, talk about the unpleasant impacts if a company doesn't recognize the signs, and finally, the cheese gets moldy. What happens if you don't change? Kim shares a story about a customer that she's had in the past where this has happened. We will cover a few things related to not changing and what happened with that company.

Essential points covered in this episode:

✔️ Glean lessons from companies that prevented themselves from moving to the next level by failing to adjust their system and handle changes needed. You can't implement a product and say, "I will run this for the next 20 years." It’s just not the way it is now.

✔️ Why should you dread those conversations in the conference room when presenting new ideas, and the first response we get is, "We can't do that." The stagnation that comes out of that particular response is always a sad result. And we see that with plenty of companies who, for whatever reason, decide that they can't and stay where they're at is unfortunate.

✔️ There's always something that we can be doing. The question is, "what?"

✔️If your company has built the muscles of change management, your company can be nimble, and being able to change quickly is the key to keeping up with growth.

✔️ Deciding to stay stagnant will cost you your best people. There are the ones that are willing to ask, "what's next?" or "how do I make this better?" If you don't have the tools for them to make things better, whether it's process technology or even the people, the truth is, they're not going to stay long, and they will leave.

✔️ Think about ideas where you have decided not to change. Even your company may be agile and changing regularly, but there will always be other things you've decided not to change. It might be just a matter of prioritization. Maybe it's not time for that
