Rocking Out (On The Porch) Episode Airs Sunday 11-21-21 7pm EST

The leaves are crisp, the wind is whipping, rocking chairs are creaking & the gals are really happy to be on the porch again. The talk is light hearted (for once!). Byron confesses that she has bought 20lbs of sugar for jam in the last few days & is now knitting to beat the band. Alicia anticipates a trip to visit an old friend & they talk about his late & much-loved wife. A progress report about the new cat is given & Byron speculates that he's sleeping in fruit bowl while Alicia's gone.

James Corden https://www.cbs.com/shows/late-late-show/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Corden

Can you help? "I need help. A dear friend of mine has taken on a job as a children's librarian in an economically-challenged county in Appalachia. She's literally the Miss Frizzle of the library world. For years, I've watched her spend hours and hours, using her creativity to make reading magical for kids. She's one of those people who creates and shows up in costumes, transforms entire rooms, develops whimsical programs, and uses enchanting reading voices--she's truly unlike anyone I've seen before in this regard. Kids who have experienced her inspiration have had their lives changed. (I added photos of her at her former library so you can see how she goes at this.) However, literacy is a serious problem in her area, and their local library is too bare. They desperately need books to fill the shelves so children can learn to love reading. If you remember perusing the shelves of your local library as a child and how it felt to check out a stack of good books--imagine how your childhood would have felt without that experience. Now imagine growing up without books to help you envision overcoming struggle or develop big dreams. The public library is one of the few places kids can go that costs nothing. It's so, so important--especially in economically-challenged areas--for those shelves to be packed. Poor parents can't drop $100 at Barnes
