<p>Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the death of seven persons in fresh attacks by suspected gunmen in the State.</p>, <p>The gunmen were said to have raided the villages of Gara and Gamji in Burra District of Ningi Local Government Area on Tuesday night.</p>, <p>The corpses of the victims were buried on Wednesday morning.</p>, <p>DAILY POST reports that Ningi LGA has been vulnerable to attacks in recent times due to its proximity to Lame-Burra Forest Reserve, a hideout for kidnappers.</p>, <p>Our reporter gathered that the bandits invaded the area at about 9:00 pm, Tuesday.</p>, <p>The Spokesman of the Command, Superintendent Ahmed Wakili described the killing as “unprovoked and mindless”.</p>, <p>He commiserated with the families of those who lost their lives in the attack.</p>, <p>“We received a distress call that some bandits had attacked Kada and Gamji villages under Burra district of Ningi LGA. They came in large numbers, shooting sporadically; as a result, seven people were killed,” he said.</p>, <p>Wakil, however, said the operatives of the command, with support from the Nigerian Military, engaged the bandits and neutralized three of them in the process.</p>, <p>He added that others scampered in disarray into the nearby bush with possible gunshot wounds.</p>, <p>The bandits were also said to have killed one volunteer security guard and injured one soldier in Gamji Village during a gun duel with the soldiers.</p>
