People With “Significant” Allergic Reactions Are Being Warned Not To Get Pfizer’s New Coronavirus Vaccine

People with a history of significant allergic reactions should not have the Pfizer/BioNTech Covid jab, regulators say.<br /><br />Two NHS workers vaccinated yesterday, had an allergic reaction which they recovered from.<br /><br />They are understood to have had an anaphylactoid reaction, which tends to involve a skin rash, breathlessness and sometimes a drop in blood pressure.This is not the same as anaphylaxis which can be fatal.<br /><br /><br /><br />The advice applies to those who have had reactions to medicines, food or vaccines, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency said.<br /><br />Professor Stephen Powis, medical director for National Health Service in England, said the advice was issued on a “precautionary basis”.<br /><br />Both NHS workers have a history of serious allergies and carry adrenaline pens around with them.<br /><br /><br /><br />Meanwhile, the Medical and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency has said people should not received the vaccine if they have had a significant allergic reaction to a vaccine, medicine or food, such as those who have been told to carry an adrenaline shot — sometimes called EpiPens — or others who have had potentially fatal allergic reactions. <br /><br /><br /><br />The medical regulator also said vaccinations should be carried out only in facilities that have resuscitation equipment.<br /><br /><br /><br />Dr June Raine, head of the MHRA, said it was only right to take this step now that "we've had this experience".<br /><br /><br /><br />...more details coming soon
