The conversation around the environment, climate change, and global warming is one that extends itself to our clothing choices. Fast-fashion garments are often made from synthetic materials like polyester and nylon derived from fossil fuels, which are not biodegradable and can release harmful chemicals into the environment when manufactured, leading to a massive increase in textile waste. This impact is being combatted by the rise of slow fashion designers and more sustainable fashion choices. Tipp FM's Jody Coffey recently spoke with Laoise Carey, a Nenagh-based slow fashion designer. Laoise's garments are not only a friend to the environment in her process but also inspired by the environment in her designs, often taking inspiration from landscapes across Tipperary.
