Our daily bread: France seeks UNESCO heritage status for the baguette

We've talked about the baguette multiple times on French Connections, but there's some exciting news for this quintessential symbol of France! The government has nominated the staple bread stick for inclusion on the UN's intangible cultural heritage register. The list aims to protect traditions, knowledge and skills so that they are not lost over time, with Belgian beer culture or Neapolitan pizza just two examples.
