She graduated from The University of St. Thomas (Houston) in 1986 with a BA in Political Science has worked in the Office of the District Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service, and later as a paralegal at a large Houston law firm. Shortly before the birth of her first son in 1993, she left the legal field to become a stay-at-home mom and community volunteer. Debby is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Houston; a volunteer for the Tourette Syndrome Association of Texas, and the Houston Museum of Natural Science; was the 2007-2008 Volunteer Guild President of the Houston Museum of Natural Science and served on the HMNS Board of Trustees during that year.
