Saturday 19th June 2021  No Joy, No Victory 6   Years ago, I listened to a message by Dr. Jerry Savelle titled “If the Devil Can Steal Your Joy, he can keep your goods”. I totally agree with that statement. The bible says, the Devil comes to steal, to kill and to destroy. However, if you do not allow the devil to steal your joy in the midst of whatever is happening to you, he cannot steal from you, and if he has, he must return whatever he has stolen. This was something Michal didn’t understand, and it cost her heavily. Yes, a lot of things that were rightfully hers seemed lost but she was at least “back in the game”. She was back with her husband and back as his wife and for these she could be grateful and joyful but she chose to be bitter and hold her husband in contempt, the contempt in her heart was what eventually condemned her. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.   Offense and bitterness operate like a married couple and the children they give birth to is nothing but trouble. Cain had a similar experience, after he became offended and bitter because God rejected his offering. God however corrected him and warned on the implications of staying offended, for this he could have shown gratitude to God and thereby kept his joy but he chose to stay bitter and ended up killing his brother. God banished him from His presence and he was cut-off from the lineage of Adam. His end was similar to Michal’s. Bitterness truly troubles many especially for people that allow bitterness to take root in them.   In Luke 17:1, Jesus said reasons to get offended will always come, but we must determine in our heart that offense will not overcome us.
