MindsetMonday with Nathan Gutierrez - 04.24.23

<p>TwoSistas welcomed to today’s podcast on this MindsetMonday, April 24, 2023, Nathan Gutierrez.  Nathan is the Founder and CEO of Wheel Life Enterprises, was born with Spina Bifida, uses a manual wheelchair for his daily mobility needs, and has never let his physical disability stop him from what he sets out to accomplish.</p> <p>In his early twenties, while he was in college, Nathan experienced a chronic illness that was soon diagnosed as kidney failure. After a lifesaving kidney transplant with his father as his donor, Nathan returned to school and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Sports Management.</p> <p>It’s obvious that Nathan’s physical disability has not altered his emotional independence; yet he has from time-to-time encountered barriers along the way.  For instance, Nathan explained that he has been in his wheelchair his entire life.  His perception of a barrier may be totally different from let’s say someone who is now in a wheelchair due to a catastrophic injury. </p> <p>We would have to say that Nathan meets those barriers with full force and effect!  In other words, a barrier may temporarily halt him; perhaps something that we take for granted may take him longer to do, but he does not let it deter him!  He navigates in a way where he is able to share his experiences with his clients in a realistic way.</p> <p>His faith and impact in serving others really resonates with everything he sets out to do.  He wants and encourages others to make an impact as well.  Nathan does not quit and he is not waiting - this is his asset which supports, creates and cultivates his impact!  He hopes one day to speak to Congress on more funding and research with spina bifida and other spinal cord injuries.</p> <p>Nathan was hired to lead a youth sports nonprofit for kids with special needs, overseeing the development of one of the first wheelchair-accessible baseball fields in California.</p> <p>Later, he would work in local government where he took on vari
