#mhTV episode 37 - An evening with an approved mental health professional

Welcome to episode 37 [originally broadcast on Wednesday 17 February 2021] of #mhTV​​. Presenters Nicky Lambert and Vanessa Garrity were joined by Tony Deane, an AMHP based in England. On the episode we talked about the role of the approved mental health professional. Also, with the recent publication of the government's response to the Review of the Mental Health Act we talked about the current Act in England and how future changes proposed might impact on people using mental health services and the staff involved. Tony is a qualified & registered Social Work England Social Worker, a #GrumpyAMHP and an ex-Best Interest Assessor. He likes history and has a nerdy AMHP interest in legal literacy, when it comes to the interface between the Mental Health Act (MHA) and the Mental Capacity Act (MCA). Tony has a favourite section of the MHA (S.149) and is a big fan of S.140 (he is a self-professed nerd). He is, by default, a very well qualified & experienced social worker & AMHP. He holds the Post Qualifying Award in Social Work award, and is a Higher Specialist MH Social Worker & Practice Educator.
