#mhTV episode 13 - Sexual safety in inpatient settings

In this weeks episode [originally broadcast on Thursday 20 August 2020] regular presenters Vanessa Garrity and Nicky Lambert were joined by guests, Rachel Dios, Amanda Godley and Kate Lorrimer to talk about sexual safety in inpatient settings. - Rachel is a ward manager on Hazel Ward (a treatment and recovery ward for women) at The Chichester Centre, Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. Rachel is also the project lead for her team on the Sexual Safety Collaborative. She also has a thorough understanding of the issues and the work, and has continued throughout the suspension of the collaborative during COVID-19 to collect data on feelings of safety from sexual harm on the ward. - Amanda is a service user representative on one of our project teams on the Sexual Safety Collaborative (Upnor Ward – a mixed acute ward – Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust), she has lived experience of being an inpatient on an acute ward and a thorough understanding of the issues surrounding sexual safety. - Kate currently works across three national quality improvement (QI) collaboratives, coaching mental health teams and regional and care systems to implement a QI approach to improving sexual safety for patients and staff, reduce restrictive practices and prevent suicide and self-harm.
