<p>A 46-year-old man, Tamuoibiten David, who allegedly obtained N7.5 million under the pretext of supplying diesel to a client, on Tuesday appeared before a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.</p>, <p>The defendant, a resident of No. 4, Olufemi Kolawole, off Ago Palace, Okota, Lagos State, is charged with conspiracy, obtaining money by false pretences and stealing, NAN reports.</p>, <p>He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.</p>, <p>The prosecutor, Insp Courage Ekhueorohan, told the court that the defendant and one other person at large committed the offences in March 2022 at No. 6 Obasholu Street, Surulere, Lagos State.</p>, <p>Ekhueorohan alleged that the defendant fraudulently obtained N7.5 million from the complainant, Mr Stephen Nwagbala, on the pretext of supplying diesel to him.</p>, <p>He said the defendant and his accomplice converted the money to their personal use and continued to give excuses for not supplying the diesel.</p>, <p>The alleged offences contravene Sections 287, 314 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.</p>, <p>The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Otitoju, granted the defendant bail in the sum of one million Naira with two sureties in like sum.</p>, <p>She adjourned the case until Aug. 22 for mention.</p>
