Description

Lisdoonvarna has become the first settlement in Ireland to be selected for the rural GP fellowship programme. Earlier this year, Dr Jim Collins retired, leaving the village and its catchment area without a general practioner. Now under a new two-year pilot initiative, a graduate doctor will take up residence in the North Clare region, operating three days a week. Lisdoonvarna Fine Gael Councillor Joe Garrihy says it means the world for the local community.
