Let's Talk Movies Ep. 18: Movies of the 1980's!

<p>In Part 2 of #DECADES - a deep dive into three pivotal decades in cinema history&nbsp;- we're talking movies of one of our favorite decades: the 1980's! The 80's was easily one of the most important times in pop culture history, and that certainly includes film. Highly successful blockbusters were the new norm. Franchises like <em>Star Wars</em> and <em>Indiana Jones</em> completely dominated the box office. Writers&nbsp;like John Hughes perfected the teenage "coming of age" tale with movies&nbsp;like <em>The Breakfast Club</em>, <em>Pretty in Pink</em>, and <em>Ferris Bueller's Day Off</em>.&nbsp; The 80's horror craze was in full swing, with franchises like&nbsp;<em>Friday the 13th</em>, <em>A Nightmare on Elm Street</em>, and <em>Halloween</em> spitting out sequel after sequel. Films were gorier. Crazier. Whether it be zombies&nbsp;in films like George A. Romero's <em>Day of the Dead</em>, or the 1985 spoof, <em>The Return of the Living Dead</em>, or disturbing werewolves in movies like <em>The Howling</em> or <em>An American Werewolf in London</em>, the bar was certainly being pushed in a way that it hadn't before. Sci-fi thrillers such as <em>Aliens </em>and <em>Predator</em> were creeping their way into the pop culture consciousness; not to mention more light-hearted sci-fi flicks like <em>Back to the Future</em>,<em> Ghostbusters</em>, and <em>Honey, I Shrunk the Kids</em>.</p> <p>If you can't tell, we sure love 80's movies.
