(Luke 1:33) Jacob is listed as the third great patriarch of the Old Testament, being named with Abraham and Isaac numerous times. He was the second son of Isaac, the grandson Of Abraham, and a twin brother to Esau. Jacob’s name first appears in Chapter 25 of the Book of Genesis, and his death is recorded in Chapter 50–his life spanning through half the Book of Genesis.
