Investigating the Government’s Use of the Emergencies Act to Stop Protests with Andrew Lawton

<p>Was the government justified in invoking the Emergencies Act to deal with the Freedom Convoy earlier this year? <br><br>This is precisely what the Public Order Emergency Commission hearings, which began on Oct. 13th, are investigating. <br><br>Over 6 weeks, the commission is expected to hear from witnesses such as Tamara Lich (Freedom Convoy organizer), Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, federal cabinet ministers, police, Ottawa city counsellors, Ottawa residents and more. <br><br>The inquiry is being made available to the public online. Unlike a court case, the commission will not make any findings of legal or criminal liability.
