I Want to Pray But What Do I Say_4

<p>Tuesday 4th May 2021</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>I want to pray but what do I say? &nbsp;4</p> <p><br></p> <p>Praying can be tough when you do not know what to say, as a new believer in the Christian faith, I remember how I struggled to pray for five minutes. My problem got compounded when I was invited to join a prayer group where I would be expected to pray for at least one hour. In my attempt to increase my prayer time, I listed out some prayer points in my note, but it added only a few extra minutes to my time of prayer. My real problem was that I had never really learnt how to pray.</p> <p><br></p> <p>Luke 11 :1-4 (NLT), Once Jesus was in a certain place praying. As he finished, one of his disciples came to him and said, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” 2Jesus said, “This is how you should pray: “Father, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. 3 Give us each day the food we need, 4 and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation.</p> <p><br></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>In this simple prayer pattern that Jesus taught His disciples, one of the first things He made them understand was that our prayer is directed at a Person. He took prayer out of the realm of religion and showed that it was about a relationship, not just a relationship with anyone but a relationship with God. This is something completely new to the disciples. He went on to let them know that the prayer wasn’t just to God, but this God is also our Father. For the Jews, it was a taboo to call God their Father, they even attempted to stone Jesus once for saying that, yet He taught them to pray to God as “Father”. It’s important we realize that we are praying to an intelligent, living Person, the God of all the earth and this God is also our loving father. So true prayer is actually, fellowshipping with our loving father. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p><br></p> <p>I pray for you that you will have a fresh revelation of the person of God as your Father.
